I think Ryu really stepped it up in this game. his basic ability still remains as unbelievably powerful as vanilla, but i think he has a lot more advance tech possibilities, thanks to his new moves, and especially his Denjin Mode.
UMvC3: Deadpool(Pooly), Hawkeye(Hawky), Dr. Doom(Doomy)
3rd Strike: Dudley
SSFIVAE: Ryu
Spoiler: show

voted for B. I'd normally put him in C+, but he has proven himself in both games, and spite of his crap mobility, I've really never see him having troubles to get in. Also, there are two qualities people often overlook; his tatsu assist is pretty much the same as Akuma's, and his role as anchor is pretty fantastic, made even better by his now-mashable Shinku Hadoken.

His tatsu assist is nothing like akumas, it gets destroyed by any projectile while akumas negates all low and medium projectiles.

I have mained ryu since vanilla and even with the buffs he got he is a low B tier character(B-)
Pros: good normals, air light tatsu, shoryuken is invicible and can be made safe with a super, hits very hard and can deal 900k+ with 2 meters, beam super, invicible level 1 super
Cons:his mobility is a bit lacking. Dejin mode takes away his life and is super short, He gets destroyed by zoners, his beam super has 19 frame start up which makes it hard to punish some zoners. bad zoning.

I'd rate him B. His got all the tools you need with damaging combos to add, great synegy with his DHC's and assists, etc but mobility sucks and others provide same tools though better/easier (sometimes). They improved him enough in ultimate to make him better whilst showing a large difference to akuma
Mains

Tekken 6: Asuka, Lei UMVC3: Iron Fist/Dr. Doom/Hawkeye,

B tier. He is what you'd expect a Shoto to be, the essential balanced, basic character. Everything about him is simply "OK". Alright normals, alright specials, alright Hypers, everything about Ryu is simply alright, not too great, but not too bad. Hado Kasukei (Denjin Mode) is notable as it's like a very short time Devil Trigger. Makes him a bit faster, recovers Red Health, and upgrades his Hypers exponentially. Problem is, it only lasts about 5 seconds, and when wavedashing, one may activate it by accident. Overall, Ryu isn't anything special, but he's alright.
